Not fewer than 3000 dry season farmers in Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency of Bauchi State are to benefit from support provided by Member representing the Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Mansur Manu Soro.
He made the disclosure on Tuesday when he flagged off the 2024 dry season farming as he distributed a total of 2,566 bags of NPK fertilizer to the beneficiaries.
He stressed that the flagging off was to consolidate on the gains of what has been done for the farmers in the area in the past by the distribution of 2,566 bags of free NPK fertilizer (15-15-15) to the dry season farmers in the Constituency.
This followed the successful enumeration and clustering of the farmers conducted weeks back in the 17 wards of the Federal Constituency where irrigation farmlands are cultivated.
Speaking at the flagging off, Mansur Manu Soro said that, “The agricultural intervention is independent of the rainy season support we had institutionalized in Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency on annual basis, in which an estimated 15,000 bags of fertilizers, tractors among other farm implements were shared to farmers free of charge.”
Also launched was the 1st batch of 150 units of the luminous solar street lights (Wakatec brand of 100watts) for installation at 150 targeted Tsangaya schools in DGFC.
According to him,”Our resolve to prioritize public places for the solar installation lies on the need to ensure maximum use of resources for the greater number of our constituents.”
“None of our solar light should be installed in a private space. 2nd batch of the installation of 128 units of solar lights due middle of January 2025,” he stressed.
Mansur Manu Soro called on the beneficiaries, comprising farmers and Tsangaya schools to make good use of the interventions.
Some of the beneficiaries commemded the Federal Lawmaker for the gesture which they said will further augment what they were able to do during the last raining season.
They also believed that it will boost food production and ensure availability of same in the area and Bauchi State by extension.
Recall that in November 2023, he launched the free distribution of fertilizers to dry season farmers, the first of its kind in Darazo-Ganjuwa Federal Constituency in Bula irrigation farmlands of Gabarin ward, Darazo LGA, where about 2,000 farmers benefitted.
