Gombe State Police Command has arrested Nine suspects in connection with various criminal offences committed across the state including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, thuggery and substance abuse.
The disclosure was contained in a statement signed and issued by the Command PPRO, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, made available to Journalists in Gombe on Friday.
The statement contained that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents by intensifying efforts to combat criminal activities.
For the offences of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, the PPRO stated that, “On the 19th of March 2025, at about 1050 hours, a distress call was received from a good Samaritan who reported an armed robbery incident at Federal Low-Cost Quarters, Gombe LGA.
It was repo that Three unknown persons on a motorcycle with registration number GME 809 WZ attacked two residents, robbing them of their valuables.
Upon receiving the report, operatives of operation Hattara swiftly mobilized to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspects: Mohammed Ahmad, 25 years old, of Jauro Jatau, Abdullahi Adamu, 19 years old, of Jeka Da Fari and Yau Adamu 25 years old, of Jeka Da Fari Quarters.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects criminally conspired and used a sharp knife to rob their victims of a Redmi Android phone valued at N150,000, Tecno Android phone valued at N100,000, Three ATM cards (Access, Eco, and GTB banks) and N3,000 cash.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, and all the stolen items were successfully recovered.
Also, for armed robbery incident, on the 20th of March 2025, at about 0830 hours, one lady, 32 years old, of Arawa ‘B’ area, Gombe LGA, reported to Hattara Base that she was attacked on 18th March 2025 at about 1130 hours.
According to her report, an unknown person armed with a sharp knife threatened to kill her and forcefully robbed her of a Honor Android phone valued at N50,000.
Following intelligence-led investigations, operatives arrested the suspect, Naziru Salisu 20 years old, of Gurama Quarters, Gombe.
The suspect, upon interrogation, confessed to the crime, revealing that he is part of the notorious Kalare gang, known for terrorizing innocent people in the area, shockingly, he admitted that he spared the victim’s life only because she was carrying a baby.
The knife used in the crime has been recovered as an exhibit, while efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen phone.
Also, on the 20th of March 2025, at about 0200 hours, a Police patrol team intercepted and arrested one Abdulkadir Adamu 25 years old, of Abacha Quarters, Gombe State, in possession of One cutlass, Two Camon Tecno smartphones, One power bank and One keypad smartphone.
Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to using the cutlass to rob multiple victims, including Umar Usman Shu’aibu ‘of the same address, whom he robbed of a keypad phone at about 2300 hours, Mohammed Sani Mu’azu and Abdulkadir Adamu of the same address, whom he robbed of two Camon Tecno smartphones and one power bank at about 2349 hours.The case is currently under investigation.
For criminal intimidation and robbery,
On the 18th of March 2025, at about 0900 hours, the Tactical Team of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested one Dahiru Bello 20 years old, a resident of Pantami Area, Gombe, at Mile Three.
Investigation revealed that on 13th March 2025, at about 1400 hours, the suspect, along with his accomplice Khalifah (now at large), went to Sabon Layi in Pantami, disguised as phone buyers, and criminally intimidated one Mustapha Garba with a knife, coercing him to hand over his keypad Tecno phone to Khalifah.
Additionally, Dahiru Bello proceeded to steal N9,000 cash from the victim’s pocket. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend Khalifah and recover the stolen phone, while investigations continue.
The Command also arrested Two suspects in possession of 76 sachets of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp.
The PPRO stated that on 20th March 2025, at about 2100hrs, patrol team of the Anti-Violence Squad arrested two male suspects at Tumfure Quarters, Gombe.
The suspects, identified as Ikechukwu Chinedu, 22 years old, Abdulwahab Mohammed, 18 years old all of Tumfure Quarters, Gombe were apprehended in possession of 76 sachets of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The arrest followed a routine patrol aimed at ensuring public safety and combating criminal activities within the state.
The suspects are currently in Police custody and undergoing investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, they will be charged to court accordingly.
The Gombe State Police Command reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to combating crime and ridding the state of illicit drugs and other substance Abuse and ensuring the safety of all residents.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
