The Secretary to Niger State Government  (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, has extended warm greetings to the Christian community in Niger State and across Nigeria as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th, 2025.
In a goodwill message, Alhaji Usman described Christmas as a period of profound spiritual reflection, love and renewal of hope, emphasizing that the teachings of Jesus Christ remain relevant to contemporary society, particularly his messages of peace, compassion, sacrifice and service to humanity.
The SSG commended the Christian faithful in the State for their continued commitment to peaceful coexistence, tolerance and harmonious living with people of other faiths, noting that these values have been instrumental in maintaining the State’s reputation as a haven of peace and religious harmony.
He urged Christians to use the occasion of Christmas to deepen their prayers for the continued progress, security and prosperity of Niger State and Nigeria as a whole.
Alhaji Usman acknowledged the various challenges confronting the nation, including economic pressures and security concerns, but expressed optimism that with collective determination, unity of purpose and unwavering faith in God, these challenges would be overcome.
He assured citizens of the State that the administration of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago remains steadfast in its commitment to implementing policies and programmes that will improve the living standards of all residents of the State, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliations.
The SSG called on all citizens to imbibe the spirit of Christmas by showing love, kindness and generosity to the less privileged in the society, emphasizing that the true essence of the season lies in sharing and caring for one another.
He particularly urged parents and guardians to use the holiday period to instill moral values in young people and to discourage them from engaging in activities that could jeopardize their future or threaten public peace and safety.
While encouraging citizens to celebrate in moderation and with decorum, the SSG appealed to motorists to exercise caution on the roads during the festive period and advised travelers to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent avoidable accidents.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious, stressing the importance of reporting any suspicious activities to relevant security agencies.
Alhaji Usman wished all Christians in Niger State and beyond a joyous and memorable Christmas celebration, praying that the season brings renewed hope, divine blessings and prosperity to families and communities across the State.
