25,000, 10kg bags of rice has been donated to the Bauchi State Government by the Aliko Dangote Foundation as palliation for the Month of Ramadan.
The consignment was in turn, distributed to the 20 local government areas in Bauchi State, as well as to critical stakeholders, privileged, less-privileged members of society and religious bodies.
The gesture was part of the Foundation’s efforts to support Nigerians, particularly the poor and vulnerable people during the thirty days of Ramadan period.
According to Ahmed Hashim, Group General Manager of Dangote Industries Limited, this is the second edition of the palliative, which started last year.
He also highlighted the Foundation’s other interventions, including providing food, medical supplies, building hostels for universities, and contributing to COVID-19 pandemic efforts.
The Bauchi State Government received the consignment from the Foundation, through the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Yakubu Wanka who expressed gratitude for the gesture.
Yakubu Wanka explained that the allocation considers the Christian community’s observation of the annual Lenten fasting period and therefore extended the gesture to them through CAN leadership.
The State ALGON Chairperson, Mahmood Baba Ma’aji, also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for extending the gesture to local government councils.
Mahmood Babamaji also recalled that the Governor had flagged off a similar distribution a few weeks ago, which also benefited local government councils.
During the distribution, each of the 20 local government areas received 500 bags, while 10,000 bags was allocated critical stakeholders across the state while mosques and churches got 5000 bags.
