Bauchi Representatives present new LGAs law to Reps Dep Speaker, Okezie Kalu

Members of the House of Representatives from Bauchi State led by Mansur Manu Soro, on Thursday, formally presented the law passed by the State Assembly creating 29 additional Local Government Areas in the State to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman, House committee on constitution review, Right Honourable Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
The presentation was in compliance to section 8 sub section 6 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The delegation comprised all Twelve Members of the House from Bauchi State and officials of the State House of Assembly, comprising the Majority Leader and Deputy House Clerk.
The presentation, required by the Constitution on both House of Representatives and the Senate will enable the National Assembly to exercise powers conferred upon it to make consequential provisions for new Local Government Areas created by State Assemblies to be reflected in Part I, First Schedule of the Constitution.
The Two Chambers of the National Assembly are expected to debate on the returns made by the Bauchi State House of Assembly and refer it to the joint Committees on the review of the Constitution for further legislative action.
If approved, Bauchi State will now have 49 LGAs, a situation that will bring development more closer to the people at the grassroots, which is the aim and objectives of creation of LGAs in the first place.
Mansur Manu Soro said that what the Members of House of Representatives from the State did, was a demonstration of support to the Legislative process of the State House of Assembly as people working together for the good of the citizens.
He added that it also demonstrates support for the developmental efforts of the State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed who has do well for the transformation of the State since coming in 2019.
The Federal Lawmaker reiterated that all the 12 Members of the House of Representatives from the State will continue to support the Governor in ensuring that he delivered for the good of the citizens.
