Bauchi State Government is to build a Mega School in Azare, headquarters of Katagum LGA in order to boost enrollment of children.
The aim of the Mega School is to also reduce the number of out-of-school children in the state and promote effective and efficient learning and teaching.
The disclosure was made by the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Adamu Muhammad (Wakilin Bauchi), who was on an official visit to Azare on Tuesday.
The Executive Chairman informed the Caretaker Chairman of the Council, Musa Azare that already, the State Governor, Senator Bala AbdulKadir Mohammed has approved the selection Katagum LGA as one of theThree LGAs where the Mega Schools will be built.
The Executive Chairman also used the opportunity to condole with Musa Azare and the family of his late friend, Baba Shitu (Babawo Boka) who died a couple of days ago.
From the office of the Caretaker Chairman, the EC moved to the Palace of the Emir of Katagum, Alh Dr Umar Farouk II to pay homage and inform him of his visit.
In his remarks, the Caretaker Chairman of Katagum LGC, Musa Azare on behalf of the people of the area seized the opportunity to profoundly thanked the Governor for graciously selecting Katagum LGA for the Mega School project.
He assured that the Council will contribute its quota to the project by ensuring that it was well maintained to avoid dilapidation.
The Caretaker Chairman also assured that Council through the LGEA will embark on improved enrollment drive to ensure that all children of school age are in school.
