Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has assured that the State will actively participate in the 2025 National Sports Festival coming up later in the year in Ogun State.
The Governor gave the assurance through his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau on Saturday when he announced the Governor’s approval for the participation of the State’s contingents.
Auwal Jatau made was speaking when he received athletes, coaches and officials from the National Sports Commission on a solidarity and handing over of the Sports festival torch visit at the Government House, Bauchi.
The Deputy Governor while appreciating the Governor for the approval, noted that, preparations towards that effect are on top to ensure the state’s athletes participate fully thereby excelling in the festival.
He recalled that, Bauchi state participation in the National Sports Festival since its inception in 1976 has consistently showcased talents in athletics, boxing, football and other key sports disciplines with securing a number of medals for the state.
According to him, “I am delighted to receive the Torch of Unity for the 22nd National Sports Festival tagged “Gateway Games 2025″, which is traditionally, the symbol of Unity, peace, friendship and tolerance among Nigerians.”
Auwal Jatau therefore commended the National Sports Commission and the Festival Committee for creating a platform that fosters youth development, talent discovery and national integration.
On her part, Mrs Mbora Ikana an official of the National Sports Commission, applauded Governor Bala Mohammed for his administration’s investment in sporting activities, and promised continued support of the Commission to Bauchi to excel in sporting events.
She assured that the 2025 edition of the National Sports Festival will be better than the previous editions considering the huge preparations of the host State couple with the commitment of the Federal Government though the National Sports Commission.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Adamu Babayo Gabarin among others.
