Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Muhammad Ali Pate has been commended for initiating the move aimed at reducing maternal and Neonatal Mortality in Nigeria.
The commendation was made by the Executive Chairman of Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed while speaking at the closing of a 5-day implementation design workshop of Maternal and Neonatal Mortality Reduction Innovation Initiative (mamii) in Bauchi on Friday.
According to him, the initiative is a very important part of ensuring that pregnant women enjoy safe deliveries while the children U-5 received the best of medical care.
He added that, “We in Bauchi State are very happy with the programme, we have keyed into it and will ensure that the initiative was successfully implemented in the selected facilities across the Eleven LGAs.”
Rilwanu Mohammed however lamented that the remaining Nine LGAs exempted from the programme are now susceptible appealing that they should be considered and incorporated into the programme.
The EC also commended the Nigeria Healthcare Sector-Wide Approach (swap) project which he said has contributed to the success of the programme under the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (NHSRII).
Rilwanu Mohammed then assured that the personnel recruited for the programme are ready to go into the field for implementation stressing that government through the Board is ready to support.
He also assured that the Taskforce inaugurated for the implementation of the project will be fully supported to ensure that it functioned effectively and efficiently.
