Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has underscored the importance of inter-Agency visit in order to build a solid society.
The Governor was speaking when received the participants of Senior Executive Course 46 2024, Group Two of the National Institute of Policy and Strategy (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
The participants were in Gombe to embarked on a significant visit to the state for the purpose of deeply understanding the dynamics of Gombe State and subsequently report their findings to their institution.
They emphasised that the aim was to study the state comprehensively and provide insightful reports to their institution.
The Governor particularly highlighted the timeliness of the chosen topic, “Digital Economy, Youth Empowerment, and Sustainable Job Creation,” in the context of addressing contemporary challenges.
While briefing the participants in his office, Inuwa Yahaya further highlighted on the concerted efforts of the state administration in combating youth restiveness and unemployment.
He elaborated on leveraging the abundant human and natural resources of Gombe State by establishing industries and tapping into the transformative potential of agriculture to create sustainable job opportunities.
According to him, “Creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and ensuring our youths are gainfully employed as top priorities for our administration.”
He added that, “We have established a one thousand hectare industrial centre and a youth and leadership training centre as well as upgrading one school from each senatorial district into mega schools equipped with ICT centres to empower the youths.”
The Governor added that, “In Gombe State we believe in the system theory that everybody is useful, and we believe that together we will build a prosperous and inclusive society.”
In his opening remarks, the Team leader, Dr. Umar Musa, expressed the team’s purpose in visiting Gombe State, reiterating their commitment to conducting thorough research and analysis on the state’s developmental initiatives.
He emphasised the importance of their findings in contributing to the formulation of viable solutions to the prevailing challenges faced by the state.
Umar Musa also provided insight into the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos, Plateau State,which was established in 1979, highlighting its pivotal role in providing a platform for leadership training aimed at nurturing strategic leaders capable of steering the country towards greater heights of development and prosperity.
He said, ” the visit of Senior Executive Course 46 2024, Group Two, to Gombe State not only signifies a collaborative effort in addressing pressing issues but also underscores the commitment of both the state administration and NIPSS to fostering sustainable development and progress.”
According to him, ” Our team is made up of the Directing Staff and Participants of Senior Executive Course 46, 2024. It is also made up of key stakeholders, public and private sector actors including the military, para military, public and civil servants and others.”
“When the issue of visitation arose the name of Gombe featured again. We visited Gombe two years ago. This is because Gombe is a pace setter not only as a Jewel in the Savannah but a Jewel in the entire country,” he added.
He added that, “During the visit we shall interact with key stakeholders, visit some sites and critical places which shall form part of our report to the institution.”
“The reports shall be presented at a stipulated date when we will love to have the representative of the government to attend” he added.
Delivering a vote of thanks on behalf of the participants, Col.Bala Fakandu appreciated the hospitality accorded them by the state government and promised to do everything within their powers to make their reports favour the move for development of the state.
The interactive session saw the Head of Civil Service , Alh. Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi and the Permanent Secretary, Budget and Economic Planning Alh.Ibrahim Jalo contributing to the discussion.by highlighting the efforts of the administration towards encouraging the youths on digital innovations and job creation.
The Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s office,Mrs.Larai Maigari and the Director Administration and Finance,Mr.Ali Hamma Ishaku as well as some aides of the Deputy Governor’s office witnessed the event.
