Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi on Thursday, visited Shongom, Kaltungo and Akko Local Government Areas to inspect ongoing construction and remodelling of the Councils Secretariats.
The SSG was equally in Gombe Local Government Area Secretariat to supervise reconstruction work at the Idi shopping mall gutted by fire Seven years ago.
While at the Secretariat of Shongom LGA, the Director General, Joint Project Agency, Builder Mahmood Yusuf took the SSG on a guided tour explaining to him that despite the construction of a new office complex, existing structures within the Council’s administrative perimeter will be given a facelift to bring them at par.
Responding, the SSG expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work that has been executed, challenging the contractor not to exceed the December 15 date line spelt out by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Speaking to staff of the Council, Professor Njodi advised them to take ownership of the project and suggested Government realistic ways to improve governance for the benefit of the people.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the Secretary, Shongom LGA, Saidu Manzo Filiya expressed gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for deeming it necessary to give the Secretariat a facelift.
In Kaltungo Local Government Area, the Director General, Joint Project told the SSG that some structural modifications were made on the Secretariat to enhance its esthetics beauty and convenience for staff and visitors alike.
The SSG expressed gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON for overhauling the Secretariat and the contractor Engineer Idris Neare for delivering the project according to agreed specifications.
He observed that when completed, the Kaltungo Local Government Secretariat can stand shoulder to shoulder with any architectural masterpieces within and outside the State.
The Councillor representing Tula Yiri Ward, Ishaku Mabe who stood in for the Chairperson, Iliya Suleiman had while welcoming the SSG explained that the reconstruction of Kaltungo Local Government Area is a testament of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya unwavering commitment to the development of the state as a whole.
Speaking shortly after touring ongoing work at the Akko LGA Secretariat, the Secretary to the State Government charged staff of the Local Government to justify Government huge spending by taking care of structures at the Secretariat as if it were there own.
The Secretary of Akko LGA Adamu Tashan Magariya expressed gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for summoning the political will to renovate the over 30 years old dilapidated council Secretariat.
At the reconstruction site of a shopping mall in Idi owned by Gombe Local Government Area, the SSG commended the foresight of the Council Chairperson, Barr Sani Ahmadu Haruna to reconstruct the burnt down mall.
He observed that the economic benefits of the shopping mall cannot be overemphasized and therefore challenged the Chairperson of Gombe Local Government Area to work towards addressing the indebtedness associated with his council and further commended the Director General Joint Projects Builder Mahmood Yusuf Ph’d for doing an excellent job.
The Chairperson of Gombe Local Government Area, Barrister Sani Haruna who doubles as the ALGON Chairman, Gombe State, said that considering the economic value of the shopping mall, the Council wasted no time in submitting it as its priority project.
He said no effort will be spared to ensure that the project is delivered within record time and according to speciations.
Professor Njodi who was on the project inspection visit at the instance of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya CON was accompanied by the DG Joint Projects Builder Mahmood Yusuf, the Perm Sec/ DG Bureau of Public Service Reforms Abubakar Hassan and Builder Ahmed Sa’idu Gulli also a Permanent Secretary as contained in a statement by Joshua Danmallam, Information Officer, SSG’s office, Gombe.
