Kano Govt empowers over 5000 women with N50,000 each to embark on SME’s

Not fewer than 5000 Women have been empowered with the sum of N50,000 each to enable them embark on Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for self-sustainance.
The disclosure was made by the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Tuesday during the flag up of an empowerment programme for the womenfolk held at Government House, Kano.
The Governor during the programme reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to empowering women and youths to become self reliant stressing that the gesture was part of fulfilling his campaign promises.
Kabir Yusuf however disclosed
that his administration was aware that small and medium enterprises is one of the major occupation of the women, hence the emergence of the new super empowerment package across the 44 LGAs
He added that all the 5200 women identified and selected will be empowered with the sum of N50,000 each, monthly as selected from the 44 LGAs.
The Governor stressed that, “This administration uphold women with high esteem and honour ,hence more programme would be ushered in to uplift their well being.”
He urged all the beneficiaries to make adequate utilisation of the empowerment by engaging themselves in small and medium enterprises geared towards ensuring economic development.
He also said that in an effort to uplift the well being of the women and the vulnerable, his administration has embarked on massive renovation of all the General Hospitals across the state.
He further stated that his administration was providing free maternal care to pregnant women in the state with the aim of addressing maternal mortality.
