The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Bauchi State has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) and the Bauchi State Government to clarify their roles and responsibilities in the matter of the alleged missing N70bn.
Recall that the EFCC on Wednesday, arrested the State Accountant General, Sirajo Muhammad Jaja over the allegations of misappropriation of the sum of N70bn.
The ZLP through a statement signed and issued by its Secretary, Comr. Abdullahi M. Gamawa stressed that as a party committed to the corporate existence of the State and well-being of its citizens, is calling for transparency and accountability regarding the alleged ₦70bn involving the Accountant General and Government.
The statement, made available to Journalists on Friday, reads: “While the people of Bauchi State face difficulties in accessing basic necessities, including delayed or unpaid salaries and limited access to welfare services, we demand to know how ₦70bn went missing under the watch of the state government.”
The party is therefore demanding a transparent and thorough investigation into the alleged ₦70bn, with all findings made public as well as immediate action against any individuals or groups found to be involved in wrongdoing as a mark of accountability.
ZLP is also demanding for justice for the people of Bauchi State, “who have the right to know how their resources are being managed.”
“As a party, we are committed to upholding democratic principles and promoting a stable, inclusive governance. We will continue to advocate for transparency, accountability, and justice in all aspects of government, especially in Bauchi State,” It concluded.
