Niger Senior Secondary Education Board takes full charge of secondary school education

The Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has formally handed over the affairs of secondary education to the Niger State Senior Secondary Education Board (NSSEB).

During the handing over ceremony held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in Minna and was presided over by the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed.

 It  was.also witnessed by top management staff of the Ministry, as well as the Chairman and members of the Board.Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed congratulated the Chairman and members of the Board on their appointments and assured them of the Ministry’s continued support.

She emphasised that the Ministry would remain accessible in providing guidance, collaboration, and institutional backing aimed at strengthening effective service delivery within the secondary education sub-sector.

The Hon. Commissioner further encouraged the Board to uphold cooperation, unity, and professionalism as critical drivers for achieving sustainable reforms and improved educational outcomes.

In her remarks during the handover ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Hajiya A’ishatu Nuhu Yarwa, reaffirmed the Ministry’s firm resolve to sustain its support for the Niger State Senior Secondary Education Board.
She stressed that the Ministry would continue to operate an open-door policy to promote constant engagement, coordination, and synergy between both institutions, with the objective of enhancing policy implementation, operational efficiency, and institutional effectiveness across the secondary education system.

Responding on behalf of the Board, the Chairman of the Niger State Senior Secondary Education Board, Hon. Alhaji Abdulkadir Shehu Nafuntuwa, expressed profound appreciation to the Ministry for the warm reception and confidence reposed in the Board.

He assured that the Board would discharge its mandate with diligence, transparency, and professionalism, while working in close alignment with the Ministry to advance secondary education development in Niger State.
He further pledged that the Board would prioritise effective management, improved service delivery, and strategic reforms aimed at repositioning secondary education in line with the New Niger Agenda of His Excellency, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.

In its own efforts, the Ministry of Information and Orientation, assured that reforms and milestones within the education sector and other key areas of governance will be communicated clearly and consistently to ensure transparency, public understanding, and citizen engagement.
