Leadership of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Kashere in Akko LGA of Gombe State has dismissed as fake news, report that there was an attack and abduction of members by bandits at the Church.
The Church Pastor in a video message stated that the Church had its two services peacefully without any hindrance saying that if there was such an attack, it was not in his Church.
According to him, “As you can see, we just finished the second service successfully, there was no any form of attack here. I want the general public to disregard such as fake news.”
He added that, “We decided to make this video in conjunction with the State Police Command and the youths of the Church to dismiss the rumours that there was abduction in ECWA Church Kashere.”
The Clergyman stressed that, “As you can see, seated with me here are the Church Elders, it is after the Service now. We calling on the people of Gombe State and Nigeria to disregard the rumours.”
He further urged youths who are using the social media to create contents to be very careful of what they post, not to mislead and misinform the general public on what did not happen therefore creating unnecessary tension.
According to him,”It is ungodly for anyone to spread rumours and create tension in the name of content creation to draw crowd. This can cause problem and panic for those who are far away from here but have Relations especially students.”
“We as Clergymen will continue to pray for peace in the country, let God intervene and save the people from the bad eggs that are bent on destroying the country and its people,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Gombe State Police Command has categorically debunked and dismissed as entirely false, the circulating report alleging an attack on ECWA Church, Kashere, in Akko Local Government Area.
The Command PPRO, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, in a statement on Sunday, stated that, “For the sake of setting the record straight, the Command through the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Pindiga and the Officer in Charge of the Kashere Police Outstation, immediately reached out to one of the Church elders.”
He added that, “The elder, who was physically present in the Church during the second segment of the Hausa service, confirmed that no such incident occurred. He also acknowledged that Police officers were at the Church premises throughout the day, providing protection as part of routine security coverage.”
“The Command viewed the circulation of such false information as irresponsible and capable of creating unnecessary panic among the public. The source of this misinformation will be thoroughly investigated with a view to taking appropriate action,” he added.
Buhari Abdullahi added that,
“Members of the public are advised to remain calm and law-abiding, as the Gombe State Police Command remains fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the state.”
