The Northern Youth Association of Nigeria (NYAN) has thrown its full support to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun for standing resolute in the protection of lives and properties of law abiding citizens of the country.
NYAN also commended the IGP for his unwavering commitment to national security condemning the recent call bysome CSOs for his removal due to the arraignment of 119 youths from the North, amongst which some are minors.
According to Comrade Godiya T. Adams, National President, Northern Youth Association of Nigeria, “However, we believe IGP Egbetokun acted within his mandate to protect Nigeria’s sovereignty.”
He stressed that, “No nation tolerates the flying of another nation’s flag or activities that sabotage its government and call for military takeover. IGP Egbetokun’s actions demonstrate his dedication to upholding the law and safeguarding Nigeria’s unity.”
Godiya Adams added that,”We recognize his efforts in maintaining law and order, and we cannot allow politically motivated attacks to undermine his authority.”
“As an association, we are committed to promoting national unity, youth welfare, and youth inclusiveness in governance. We stand in solidarity with IGP Egbetokun and the Nigeria Police Force, acknowledging their tireless efforts to address security challenges across the country,” he added.
The NYAN President added that, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s timely intervention led to the release of the detained youths. We appreciate his leadership while emphasizing the importance of supporting institutions that protect Nigeria’s interests.”
NYAN stated that key reasons for its support to the IGP include protection of National Sovereignty as demo by the actions of the IGP to ensure Nigeria’s laws and institutions are respected.
Also, the prevention of Sabotage as no nation tolerates activities that undermine its government and call for military takeover as well as commitment to National Unity which IGP Egbetokun’s leadership promotes through unity and stability in Nigeria.
Godiya Adams concluded stating that, “We urge all Nigerians to join us in backing IGP Egbetokun and the Nigeria Police Force as they work towards a safer and more secure Nigeria.”
