Probe: Leave Ganduje alone – Kwankwaso tells Governor Yusuf

KANO state Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has been called upon to leave the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji ( Dr) Abdullahi Umar Ganduje alone.
The call was made by a former Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Alhaji ( Dr.) Ilyasu Musa Kwankwaso in a statement on Sunday and made available to Press men in Kano
He said that the move to investigate the former Governor has “a hidden agenda,” adding that it is a political vendetta that would expose  alleged financial atrocities, his political godfather, Dr.Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso committed while serving the State.
He also said that,  “We all know that  Dr Kwankwaso and Governor Yusuf have ambition of defecting to the APC,” adding that the APC’s  door is wide open for them to join the winning party
He added that they should shelve all these negative moves and the desperation of tarnishing the image and reputation of Dr.Ganduje ,if they wish to decamp to the APC  ,they would be  welcome on board with his open hands
He however advised the State Governor to expedite action on distributing the large number of palliative items given to the state by President Bola Ahmed Tibubu’ s administration to the vulnerable people
The government should also  judiciously spend federal allocation been collected from the federal government as a result of removal of fuel subsidy to address the yearning and aspirations of the Kano people
According to him, “the recent committee of enquiry set up by Governor Yusuf was an handiwork of Dr.Kwankwaso, aimed at tarnishing the good reputation of Dr.Ganduje,  this is ignoble move which has failed on arrival.”
“We are calling on governor Yusuf to stop dancing to the tune of the music of Dr.Kwankwaso because the teeming masses of the state were well aware of alleged misappropriation of office he committed during his tenure,” he added.
According to him, “I challenge the former Governor of Kano to be bold to swear by the holy Quran that he has a clean slate while in government in the state.”
The former Commissioner, then disclosed that if he, Dr. Kwankwaso, would then be bold enough that he has no skeleton in his cupboard during his tenure as the state governor ,he ( Ilyasu Kwankwaso) would come out with the lists of contractors  and companies ,the former governor had an alleged of shady deal with
He stressed that, “Let it be known to Governor Yusuf, that who is leaving  inside a glass house should not throw stones, because the stone may eventually hit him.”
Most residents of the state, knew that a lot of alleged  financial recklessness occurred while his political godfather was in the helm of affair as Governor of the state.
Dr.Kwankwaso then called on him, to be wary in succumbing to whatever advises his mentor is giving him, because,it would be suicidal to embark on a war one cannot accomplish.
“We were not begging Governor Yusuf not to embark on probing Dr.Ganduje’ s administration, because constitutionally a sitting Governor has right to probe his predecessor, but as I said, ” he would leaves in a glass house must not venture throwing stone,” he added.
Dr Kwankwaso, then referred the state governor to the ruling of a federal high court ,that only the Attorney General of the country or the Economic Financial Crime Commission has power to instigate probe on financial allegation, hence the need for Governor Yusuf, to look before he leaps.
However, a chieftain of New Nigeria People Party ( NNPP), Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed said that there is nothing bad or unconstitutional, for any sitting Governor to seek clearance on any issue ,his predecessor had committed while in office
According to him, a former Governor , should not be afraid of being investigated, if he does not have skeletons in his cupboard.”
