The Young Leaders Network has reiterated its commitment to empowering young leaders across the country in order to create meaningful changes within their respective communities.
Also, through advocacy, capacity building, and collaborative partnerships, YLN strives to address key issues affecting education, security, and youths development.
Consequently, in ensuring Fear-Free Learning in Bauchi State, School Safety Cluster and Ministry of Education has achieved a significant milestone in providing safe and secure education in the State.
According to Seun Justin Onarinde,
Executive Director, Young Leaders Network, “The Cluster is made up of six Civil Society Organizations, with Young Leaders Network serving as its anchor while other members include Leadtots Development Initiative, Bauchi State Network of Civil Society Organization, Thamani for Women and Youths Development Initiative, Innovative Childcare and Women Empowerment Initiative, and Northeast Youth Initiative for Development and Nigerian Union of Journalist.”
The “Enhancing Safe and Secure Education for All Project,” which addresses the persistent problems of unsafe schools and inadequate education budget management in Bauchi, Borno, and Yobe States, has advanced, thanks in large part to the combined efforts of the groups.
The ED added that,”The School Safety Cluster is delighted to announce a significant milestone in our collaborative efforts with the Bauchi State Ministry of Education. Together, we have successfully reviewed the National Policy on Safety, Security, and Violence-Free Schools, tailoring it to address the unique needs of Bauchi State. This collaboration has resulted in the creation of the Bauchi State Policy on Safety, Security, and Violence-Free Schools.”
The comprehensive policy, which underwent careful reviews by diverse stakeholders, aims to ensure the safety and security of all students, school administrators and school facilities across Bauchi State.
It reflects our collective commitment to fostering a secure and violence-free environment where students can thrive in academic and personal growth. The facilitation process was inclusive and participatory, drawing input from education experts, community leaders, and other key stakeholders.
“We are particularly grateful to the former Honorable Commissioner for Education in person of Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru, for her great support and dedication to this cause. Her leadership has been instrumental in driving this initiative forward, resulting in the signing of the policy document, which is now officially approved for implementation.”
“In addition to celebrating this accomplishment, we call on the current Honorable Commissioner for Education to continue Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru’s work and expand on it. In order to promote safer schools in Bauchi and a safe and comfortable learning environment for all children, it is imperative that this policy be fully implemented,”he added.
He further stated that,”This policy represents an important step towards safeguarding the future of school environments in Bauchi State, ensuring students are protected and empowered within their learning environments. It also underscores the importance of collaboration between governmental bodies and civil society organizations in addressing critical societal challenges.”
“As we celebrate this achievement, we call on the entire Bauchi society to join us in supporting the implementation of this policy. Together, we can create safer and more secure schools that uphold the rights and well-being of every student and teacher,” he stressed.
