Zaar traditional Council urges partnership for peace from government

The Gung Zaar Council has urgently appealed to the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to partner directly with the Council in addressing security challenges affecting its people.
The Council also called on all stakeholders to resist politicizing issues of security and peace, stressing that, for the sanctity of life transcends political divides.
The assertion was contained on a Press statement issued by the Zaar Traditional Council of Chiefs on behalf of His Royal Majesty, Gung Zaar-Elect, Ishaku Komo (Rtd.), dated: 29th August, 2025 and signed by Timothy M. Bits on,
Council Secretary.
The Zaar Traditional Council of Chiefs, gave the statement at the end of an emergency meeting, held on Friday, the 29th of August, 2025, with all traditional Chiefs across Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas of Bauchi State, in line with the time-honored customs of the Zaar people.
The Council explained that, “This urgent meeting was necessitated by the recent and ongoing tragic events that have befallen our community, including the horrific and brutal killing of our son, Mr. Irmiya Yohanna, on his farm in Bogoro LGA by suspected assailants, as well as the grievous attack in Tafawa Balewa LGA, which left three of our children seriously injured and still receiving treatment.”
It stressed that, “The Gung Zaar Council, as the supreme traditional voice of our people, unequivocally condemns these senseless acts of violence.”
“We extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family and stand in solidarity with all victims and survivors. An injury to one Zaar son or daughter is indeed an injury to us all,” It added.
The Council however stressed that, “In the face of these provocations, His Royal Majesty calls upon all traditional chiefs, elders, and leaders within our jurisdiction to remain steadfast as ambassadors of peace.”
“We equally admonish our youth to remain law-abiding citizens, to shun all forms of retaliation, and to cooperate fully with security agencies in safeguarding lives and property in our land,” It added.
The Council however declared that, “The Zaar Kingdom will not condone nor promote any form of lawlessness under the watch of His Royal Majesty. Moreover, His Royal Majesty emphasizes that security is a shared responsibility.”
It concluded, “Finally, in the spirit of reconciliation and coexistence, His Royal Majesty reaffirms the commitment of the Gung Zaar Council to continue engaging with Fulani leaders and other neighboring communities in constructive dialogue and cooperation, with the ultimate aim of restoring peace, harmony, and stability across our ancestral land. May peace and justice prevail in the Zaar Kingdom and Bauchi State at large.”
