Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed has declared, Monday, 8th July, 2024 as a work -free day to commemorate the first day of the Islamic Calendar, Al-Muharram.
The declaration of the holiday is in recognition of the significance of the Islamic calendar and the beginning of a new year,.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Affairs, Mukhtar Gidado in a statement on Sunday stated that, “This gesture underscores the administration’s respect for the religious and cultural values of our Muslim community, offering an opportunity for reflection, prayer, and celebration.”
He added that, “The government acknowledges the importance of Al-Muharram as a time of renewal and spiritual growth for our Muslim brothers and sisters.”
“Bala Mohammed extends his best wishes to all citizens observing this important day, encouraging everyone to engage in activities that promote peace, unity, and understanding within our diverse society, The SA added.
He stressed that Government offices, Schools and banks are hereby notified to observe this work-free day as normal activities will resume the following day.
Mukhtar Gidado concluded stating that, “Governor Bala Mohammed prays that this new year will usher more prosperity, good health, harmony, and peaceful coexistence.”
