The State Project Coordinator (SPC) , Agro-climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes ACReSAL project, Dr Ibrahim Kabir has pledged unflinching support to actualise the Green Campus Initiative of Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP) Bauchi through partnership for massive tree planting within the institution campus.
The SPC made the pledge during the kick starting of the Green Campus Initiative of the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Bauchi held in the Campus.
Ibrahim Kabir said that it was overwhelming to have partnership with such a foresight which is in line with Bauchi ACReSAL initiative of ” One Man, One Tree”.
He stated that such an initiative will not only beautify the environment but will serve as a sensitisation strategy to other institutions and communities around to key into tree planting.
He added that Bauchi ACReSAL will help them have a structure for massive tree planting that will align with that of ACReSAL to achieve its set target of the school to go green.
He used the forum and encouraged lecturers and community members to always inculcate the habit of ownership of trees planted this will bring about sustainability.
Earlier, the Rector, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic ATAP Bauchi, Dr Hashim Sabo Bello appreciates ACReSAL for honouring their invitation and expressed delight for the knowledge shared which will go a long way in helping them achieve the Green Campus Initiative.
Hashim Bello also said that the initiative has been introduced some years back, but was privileged to implement it in his tenure, saying that with the technical support from ACReSAL, ATAP Bauchi will have a new face on its environment.
While at the shelterbelt project site done for the school by Bauchi ACReSAL, the Rector appreciated the project which will surely serve its purpose in the school as wind breakers, eco friendly environment and ecstatics.
He promised to maintain the plantation until they reach the maturity stage .
