Bauchi state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has held an end of the year, 2024 stakeholders meeting with former Chairmen of the Council on how to consolidate on the gains achieved and moving f in the new year 2025.
The meeting which presided over by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, was attended by Seven former Chairmen under the auspices of NUJ Elders Advisory Council, discussed vital issues relating to the activities of the Council in 2024.
Addressing the participants, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Umar Sa’idu disclosed that the Union had, during the period under review, conducted series of activities aimed at improving the well being of members.
Some of the services rendered included training and re-training of members, health support and the recommendations given to the State Government on improving the status of the state owned media houses.
Umar Sa’idu also said that the Council has constituted Five different Committees for easy management of the Union.
According to him, the Council is embarking on the diversification of its revenue sources by collaborating with the Bauchi State Investment Corporation (BIC) to construct lock-up shops at the Press Center.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Elders Advisory Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris Shall, commended the leadership style of the Council Chairman and called on him to maintain the spirit.
He advised Journalists in the State to endeavor to pay their official registration fees as part of their obligations for the Union.
Speaking with newmen shortly after the meeting , the Spokesperson of the Elders Advisory Council, Malam Ibrahim Malam Goje, commended the Council for maintaining peace and unity in the Council.
The Elders Council reiterated its readiness to support the present leadership of the union for the progress of the profession.
Other members of the Elders Advisory Council that attended the meeting included Muhammad Sani Muhammad, Idris Usman Sambo, Ibrahim Wali, Isa Suleman, Dahiru Garba Muhammad and Ibrahim Malam Goje.
