Members of the Rotary Club of Bauchi Central in Bauchi state have reiterated commitment to supporting any initiatives that will ensure that all identified Child-killer diseases were eradicated in Bauchi state.
Speaking on behalf of the members during the celebration of the 2024 World Polio Day held on Thursday, President of the Club, Rotarian Morris Choji stressed the importance of synergy and collaboration in the fight.
He stressed that Rotary International has been in the forefront of fighting Polio the World over and is delighted to be part of the success story of the eradication of the disease in Nigeria and in Bauchi state particularly.
The Club President added that every year, members of the Club have been participating actively in the celebration of the World Polio Day and always ensured that the message was passed.
Morris Choji stressed that the Club which is a voluntary organisation derives joy in seeing that people are happy always the more reason it engages in outreaches and support services across the state.
On the 2024 celebration, he emphasized that it was a significant exercise because survivors of the diseases who are regarded as Polio Heroes were recognized and celebrated as means of encouragement.
He added that their presence and participation in the celebration was a great aspect of raising awareness on the importance of having children U-5 to come out for vaccination at the designated health facilities.
Morris Choji added that Rotary Club of Bauchi Central will continue to be part of the awareness creation to ensure that the issue of zero dose in the state was effectively tackled.
Members of the Rotary Club of Bauchi Central actively participated in the Walk to create Awareness on Polio from the Ministry of Health to the Palace of the Emir of Bauchi through the Nassarawa Street.
