Stakeholders in Bauchi State, have reiterated commitment to restrengthen the fight against Gender Based Violence, GBV in their respective areas of intervention.
They made the pledge at a meeting for the Launch and Dissemination of the Standard and Guidelines for Medical Management of Gender Based Violence, GBV Survivors, organized by the State Ministry of Health with support from an International NGO, Ipas.
Speaking, the Gender Desk Officer in the ministry, Mrs Zuwaira Baba said the 120 page document contains the legal procedure to cater for the healthcare service of GBV survivors.
Mrs Zuwaira who said the document would help towards addressing the problems being encountered in the health facilities when treating survivors of GBV.
In an address of welcome, the Permanent Secretary, Bauchi State Ministry of Health, Ali Babayo appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed led administration for the provision of enabling environment, that makes the document a reality.
He also thanked Ipas for the technical support it rendered towards the development and domestication of the Standard and Guidelines for Medical Management of Gender Based Violence, GBV Survivors and pledged to ensure its implementation.
Representatives from the State Ministry of Justice, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, National Human Rights Commission, Persons With Disabilities, The Nigeria Police Force, State Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, the Media, Women Medical Association of Nigeria, UNFPA, USAID funded Engender Health, among other attendees graced the occasion.
