Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed has declared that all of those criticing the determination of his administration to actualize the creation of the Sayawa Chiefdom and site its headquarters in Tafawa Balewa are nothing but enemies of progress.
The Governor made the declaration on Thursday when officials of the State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) led by its Chairman, Reverend Dr. Abraham Damina paid him the traditional Christmas homage at the Government House, Bauchi.
Bala Mohammed appreciated the Sayawa Community for giving him benefit of doubt in his efforts to actualize the Chiefdom, saying that his Government is working tirelessly to keep the state peaceful.
According to him, “Without your cooperation, there won’t be peace. Even your deep sense of actualization, self determination in the creation of the Sayawa Chiefdom you continue to give me benefit of doubt.”
Bala Mohammed stated that his administration has recently set up so many Committees, carried out Community engagement, stakeholder engagement to ensure that some of the thorny issues in the process of creating the Sayawa Chiefdom are addressed.
According to him, upon all the efforts, including, the siting of the headquarters, yet there are contentious issues and areas based on age-long suspicion and mistrust.
The Governor who insisted that despite the unprovoked insults on him regarding his efforts to create the Chiefdom, he will ensure that it is done in the interest of peace and justice.
He stressed that, “Inspite of unprovoked insults on me, I will accommodate and swallow it, but I assure you, it will be done, we will get there, we know those people behind this, they are enemies of progress”, he said.
Speaking to the Christian Community leaders, he said that, “I am happy you are seeing and recognizing what we are doing and you are appreciating the contributions of both parties on both sides and the sacrifice, all we want is to bring peace where both sides would benefit.”
“If I don’t do it as one of the biggest beneficiaries of you people and the other side too, having come from the same area then I don’t know who will come and do it”, he said.
The Governor while urging all the stakeholders to give him benefit of doubt, assured of his readiness to intensify stakeholding by reaching out to all the parties involved in order to actualize the Chiefdom amicably.
Bala Mohammed stressed that, “I will not join issues with the SCIAN because I am a member, but I feel highly disappointed with some of the comments, these are questions that I can be asked to explain, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt and give the necessary explanation but certainly I know that they too they mean well but there are a lot of incitement behind the matter but on behalf of the people of Bauchi State, I will reach out to them.”
In his remarks, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bauchi State, Rev Dr Abraham Damina Dimeus commended the Governor for his all encompassing style of leadership that has taken care of all segments of the state.
The CAN Chairman particularly commemded the Governor for his unbiased leadership that has ensured that every religion got its own share of dividends of democracy which he said is what democracy is all about.
The Clergyman declared that, “If we, Christians in the State will not appreciate what you have done, doing presently and will do for us again, I don’t know what else we want.”
He added that, “We were not expecting anything for the Christmas considering the economic downturn in the country but you surprised us with bulls, rice, oils, and other items. We are indeed grateful to you.”
The CAN Chairman reiterated that the Christian Community will continue to be supportive of the administration in whatever capacity stressing that,”Our own is for peace to reign in the state.”
