Bauchi state government has received 42,000 bags of assorted grains from the Federal Government as mitigation against the hardship caused by natural disasters in the state.
The assorted grains include maize, millet and sorghum which the Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir directed should be distributed immediately.
He was represented at the flagging off for the distribution of the grains by the State Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka.
The Governor appreciated the Federal Government for the gesture and support assuring that his administration will ensure judicious distribution of the food items to the beneficiaries.
The items were presented by Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Hajiya Zubaida Umar.
Represented by the Zonal Director, the DG said that the food items are part of the Federal Government’s efforts to alleviate the plight of Nigerians caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.
Director-General of Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alh Mas’ud Aliyu appreciated the Federal Government for the support saying that it will no doubt compliment Government’s efforts in that regard.
He also assured that the items will be distributed to only those who are captured to receive such items which will serve as a palliation for them.
