Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi on Monday, secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Sokoto United on match day 7 of the Nigeria National League 2025 to reclaim the top position in the Northern Conference C of the #NNL25 season.
Played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Stadium, Bauchi, goals from Jonathan Mairiga and Nentaka Bangs in each half of the match earned the Bauchi-based side the crucial Three points to close the first round of the season on a high.
The game began with Wikki Tourists players struggling to find their rhythm, but they soon gained control, piling pressure on the visitors.
Their breakthrough came in the 26’minutes when Jonathan Mairiga converted an assist from John Taiwo to give the home side the lead before halftime.
In the second half, Nentaka Bangs, who was later named Man of the Match, doubled the advantage in the 52′ minutes.
He latched onto another brilliant pass from John Taiwo, beating the Sokoto United goalkeeper with a composed finish to make it 2-0.
Head Coach, Abdu Maikaba expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance and commended the players for their determination.
According to him, “It was important to start and end the first round strongly.”
We will continue working hard to ensure we finish the season on top and qualify for the playoffs,” said Maikaba.
He also praised the unwavering support of the fans, urging them to continue rallying behind the team.
Wikki Tourists finished the first half of the season with 13 points solidifying their position at the summit of the Group’s standings.
