For the second consecutive year, Wikki Tourists FC on Sunday, emerged champions of the Bauchi State Federation Cup, defeating Warinje FC 1-0 in a thrilling final at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
Just like in 2024 when WIKKITOURISTS FC beat same Warinje FC in the final, the highly competitive 2025 final ended with a narrow victory for the Bauchi-based side.
The first half saw both teams create scoring opportunities but failed to convert. Despite tactical substitutions by Wikki Tourists in the second half, the breakthrough did not come until the 82nd minute.
John Taiwo became the hero of the night, dribbling past Warinje FC’s defense before firing a low shot past the goalkeeper to put Wikki Tourists ahead.
The stadium erupted in celebration as fans cheered their team on until the final whistle, which came after 90+5 minutes of action.
Wikki Tourists’ head coach, Abdu Maikaba, acknowledged the intensity of the match, praising Warinje FC for their strong performance.
“It was a tough game, but we achieved the result we wanted.
This is the Challenge Cup, where smaller teams can challenge bigger ones, and Warinje FC gave us a good fight however, their effort was not enough to stop us.
We are grateful to Allah for this victory,” Maikaba said.
Bauchi FA Chairman, Mr. Pascal Patrick, alongside other FA board members, presented the trophy to Wikki Tourists FC, officially crowning them champions of the 2025 Bauchi State Federation Cup.
