And the breakthrough came just 11 minutes into the game, when Imamu Bala Magaji finished off a sharp move with a composed strike after a brilliant on-the-run assist from Nasiru Jibrin.
The momentum continued, and just seven minutes later, Jibrin delivered yet another inch-perfect assist, this time to Nentaka Bangs, who made no mistake, heading home Wikki Tourists’ second goal of the evening to send the home crowd into wild celebrations!
Despite several attempts by the visitors to find a way back into the game, Wikki Tourists’ defense held strong, staying organized and focused throughout the second half.
Gombe United pressed for a consolation, but the Tourists were in no mood to concede.
Nentaka Bangs was later crowned Man of the Match for his commanding performance and goal, his second time receiving the award this season, proving once again that he’s one of the team’s most valuable assets.
In his post-match interview, Coach Bashir Saleh couldn’t hide his excitement saying: “We really planned for this match, and Alhamdulillah, God has answered our prayers.”
“The boys were focused, disciplined, and hungry for victory,” asserted Coach Bashir.
