Bauchi State Commissioner for Education Dr. Jamila Mohammed Dahiru Dahiru has expressed gratitude for the political will that is driving educational reforms in the state presently.
The Commissioner was speaking at a two-day consultation meeting focused on the State’s Theory of Change for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) State Transformation Grant (STG) organized in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Education and UNICEF Nigeria.
Jamila Dahiru noted that, “We have the full support of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, whose vision is to provide quality and accessible education in Bauchi State.”
The Commissioner also thanked the Federal Ministry of Education and UNICEF for their continued support in improving the state’s educational landscape.
In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB), Alhaji Adamu Duguri, underscored the close cooperation between BASUBEB and the Ministry of Education.
He stated that, “Here in Bauchi, SUBEB and the Ministry of Education work hand in hand to develop the education sector for all.”
Munamuzunga Srkandi, UNICEF’s Education Manager in Abuja, highlighted the meeting’s objectives, emphasizing the importance of collaboration to achieve educational transformation.
The objectives of the state-level consultations included fostering a shared understanding of the GPE-STG framework, the Partnership Compact, and the processes and timelines for proposal development and program implementation.
Participants also reviewed and refined the draft program outline to ensure that Bauchi State’s specific challenges, needs, and priorities were adequately captured, aligning with GPE-STG guidelines.
Key agenda items included discussions on the state’s context, the Theory of Change, proposed interventions, and implementation arrangements.
The meeting also examined operational procedures for the GPE-STG, result-based financing mechanisms, and coordination strategies for planning and implementation at the state level.
