Visiting Zamfara United FC failed short of withstanding Wikki Tourists supremacy in one of the nnl23 matches played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi after a 4-0 hauling by the home team on Sunday.
John Taiwo opened scores for the Tourists in the Sixteenth minutes when he headed home the goal that beat the goalkeeper
Twelve minutes later, Nasiru Jibrin added to the tally from a free kick just outside the box to put Zamfara United in a confused situation till end of the first half.
On resumption into the second half, Wikki Tourists changed its approach by introducing substitutions.
Promise Damala was on hand in the 59 minutes when he found the back of the net for the third goal from a resultant goal mouth display.
The fourth goal for Wikki Tourists came in the 83 minutes through the team’s leading goal scorer, Owolabi Aremu who easily finished a rebound that earlier hit the cross bar increasing his goal tally to five in the league.
With the victory, Wikki Tourists maitain its leading position on the Conference C log with 19 points after 9 games.
In a post match briefing,
Coach Azeez Audu said that, “The victory is a morale booster to my team especially when you start the league on a sound footing and we are grateful to God for that.”
He added that the preparation ahead of next game will be the same as always.
According to him, “We are going there to fight for points as that it will give us confidence towards our target.”
