Barely ten days to the Eid el Kabir festival, there have been calls for Kano State plgrims to strive to perform the religious duty with commitment and a sense of religious duty.
Gen. Halliru Akiku ,Rtd a member of the ACF Board Of Trustees made the call in a goodwill message to the Kano State contingent.
They should also be prayerful and thankful to Almighty Allah for being opportuned to go to the Holy Land at a time of economic stress.
In a statement signed by Bello Sani Galadanci publicity Secretary, Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF Kano state Chapter said General Akilu observed that Hajj being one of the five pillars of Islam would afford the pilgrims the much needed opportunity to pray for the continued peace and stability of the nation, and the restoration of its economic prosperity.
Gen. Akilu then reminded the pilgrims that as Ambassadors of Kano State while in the holy land they must abide by the rules and regulations earmarked by the Host country for the observance of Hajj, as well as the code of ethics of Nigeria’s Hajj Commission.
In a similar goodwill message, the Chairman, Kano State ACF, Dr Goni Farouk Umar expressed gratitude to Allah that Hajj operations had been successfully restored after the lull created by the scourge of the Covid 19 pandemic.
He appealed to federal and state official delegations overseeing the Hajj to perform their duties creditably assuring them that the best reward for them would come from Allah.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, President, Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Saad Abubakar has directed Muslims to start looking for the new moon of Dhul Hijjah from this Sunday 29th Zul Qaada 1444 AH which is equivalent to 18th June 2023.
