The Members of the state 10th house of Assembly have elected Babayo Muhammad Akuyam member representing Hardawa constituency as the new speaker while emerged Ahmed Abdullahi representing Dass constituency as Deputy Speaker during the members resumption at the Assembly chamber.
The election of the new speaker and his deputy followed the recent court of appeal ruling of declaring the election of the former speaker, member representing Ningi Central constituency and his deputy Jamilu Umaru Dahiru of Bauchi central constituency inconclusive.
The election of the new Speaker followed a nomination by Member, representing Shira Constituency Auwal Hassan and was seconded by Member representing Burra Tanko Ibrahim.
Both the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker were sworn in by the Clerk of the House Umar Yusuf Gital in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Later the Speaker was escorted to his seat by the mover and seconder of the nomination as well as the Deputy Speaker.
In his acceptance Speech the new Speaker Babayo Muhammad Akuyam thanked Allah for his emergence as the Speaker and assured the good people of the State that his doors will always remain open for positive advice
He similarly commended the Hon members for their believe that he can delivered.
According to him, going by the present administration’s ideology the House would do everything possible for the overall development of the State.
Meanwhile, the State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed would tomorrow present the 2024 state budget proposal to the state house of assembly.
The information is contained in a message sent to the assembly by the state governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed signed by the secretary to the state Government Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim and read by the house majority leader Sale Hodi Jibir during plenary.
