The House of Representative Member, representing Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency under the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bauchi State, Hon Jafaru Gambo Leko has empowered 325 farmers with farm inputs in his Constituency.
Jafaru Leko, while distributing the farm inputs on Saturday in Bogoro,said that the empowerment was part of campaign promises in the Constituency.
He said the initiative aims to support local farmers by providing essential resources for agricultural activities, potentially enhancing local agricultural productivity and livelihoods in the constituency.
Jafaru Leko, represented by Abdulrashheed Ahmed Muazu, member representing Tafawa Balewa Constituency in the State Assembly, said that empowerment is the only weapon to fight poverty.
He also said this effort would directly impact the agricultural sector within his constituency, emphasizing his commitment to supporting rural development through practical initiatives.
According to him, “The items distributed include 100 water pumps, 100 farm sprayer,100 organic liquid fertilizer and 25 grinding machine to 325 constituents.”
“Farm inputs play a crucial role in enhancing food security by improving agricultural productivity and sustainability in several ways,” Leko said.
The Legislator pledged to continue the empowerment initiative for people of the constituency to improve their livelihood.
He however cautioned against selling the farm’s inputs and also encouraged people to engage in farming to improve food production.
Alhaji Alhassan Sadiq,who was Chairman of the occasion, commended the efforts of the Legislator on his empowerment initiative.
He urged those who have not benefited to be patient and wait for their time, açcording to him,more empowerment programs are on the way.
Also speaking, Mr Rabiu Garba, APC Legal Officer and Stakeholder in the Constituency, commended the Legislator for the empowerment initiative.
He appreciated all the party members for their patience and response during the empowerment ceremony.
Miss Rejoice Gideon, a beneficiary expressed her appreciation to Jafaru Leko for the gesture saying that, “The water pump machine would enhance irrigation systems and drought-resistant crop varieties. ”
