Management Board of the Bauchi State Sports Council has expressed confidence that its athletes will record more successes in the upcoming National Sports Festival and other sporting events.
The optimism and confidence is coming following the success recorded during the recent Zonal elimination competition held in Damaturu, Yobe State where the State emerged top of the table.
Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Ado Ibrahim Ama, disclosed this shortly after the first quarter meeting held in Bauchi on Saturday to review its activities.
Ado Ibrahim while interacting with Sports Writers, said that, the Board has made necessary arrangements on how to record much success in the upcoming National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun state later in the year 2025.
He explained that during the meeting, the Board agreed to advise government on the need to recruit more staff in the State Sports Council as it is currently under- staffed and need more professionals.
He added that the Board also resolved to seek additional utility vehicles from the government to help the Sports Council in attending sporting events across the country.
Ado Ama, used the forum to thank Governor Bala Muhammad for giving members of the Board, mandate to organize the quarterly meeting for the first time since appointing the board members.
Also speaking, the Director of Sports, Bauchi State Sports Council, Coach Usman Yusuf Danbala said that the State contingents have secured more than 169 medals from different sporting events in less than two years.
Usman Danbala thanked the state government and Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Adamu Babayo Gabarin for timely release of budgetted funds for various sporting participation.
