Gombe State Government said the construction of over 2.4 billion Naira four span bridge and gully erosion control project spanning through various communities in Hayin-Kwarin Misau, Bogo and BCGA within Gombe metropolis will be completed before the next rainy season.
The State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation Usman Maijama’a Kallamu made this known while briefing newsmen on the project site in Gombe.
He explained that Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya led administration is committed to addressing all the gully erosion sites to safeguard the lives and property of the citizenry.
The Commissioner expressed satisfaction on the level of the project completion, which he said has reached 70 to 75%.
Some residents who spoke to newsmen Ketura Yusuf, Muhammad Garba and Hamnayah Helma, commended the Governor for putting people first in his policies and programs that have direct bearing on their lives.
The residents affirmed that the monstrous gully has engulfed over one thousand houses in the area, expressing hope that upon completion, the project would address the challenges bedeviling the communities.
