Bauchi State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) on Saturday, donated learning and instructional materials to Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Kofar Wambai as part of its contribution to the celebration of 2024 International Day of the Girl Child (IDGG).
The items donated included; Textbooks, white writing boards, dusters and markers to improve learning and teaching process.
The theme for the 2024 International Day for the Girl Child is “Girls Vision for the Future”.
Bauchi State NAWOJ Chairperson, Rashida Yusuf, reiterated the commitment of the Association to advocate and promote girl child education and promote adolescent health.
She said that the Association would continue to intensify sensitization campaigns on welfare and support girls to achieve their future potential.
According to her, “NAWOJ will continue to mentor and counsel girls in various areas of endeavor in order to support them achieve their future potentials.
Rashida Yusuf stressed that, “We donated these items to contribute to the development of girls in all aspects of human endeavors.”
“We believe that in school we catch them young and we encourage them to display their talents,bring out their uniqueness that will contribute to human development ,”she added.
Responding on behalf of the School, Mrs Aisha Mohammed, Vice Principal, Administration said that the materials would support the learning process in the school.
She commended the Association for choosing GGSS, Koar Wambai for the gesture.
Aisha Mohammed also called on NAWOJ to organize more programmes that would enlighten the girls on various aspects of human endeavors.
Some of the girls expressed appreciation to NAWOJ for the donation saying that it will go a long way in enhancing learning and teaching atmosphere in the School.
They also appealed for frequent visits by NAWOJ members in order to serve as motivation for them in choosing a career to enable them get to the top of their chosen career.
