Bauchi state government has confirmed the outbreak of Diptheria disease in the state.
Chairman Bauchi State Primary Health care development agency Dr Rilwanu Muhammad who give the indication during press briefing in Bauchi explain that out of the three confirmed cases from Jama’are local government two died of the disease.
Dr Rilwanu Muhammad said fifty eight samples were taking to Abuja for test and the Agency await the results of fifty one samples.
He stressed that part of the measures taken to curtail the spread of the diseases, public and private schools in Jama’are local government have been closed to stop transmission of the disease .
Dr Rilwanu Muhammad express concern over the delay in carrying out test of suspected diptheria samples which last for weeks and called on National Center for Disease Control to speed up the process.
The Executive Chairman of the agency appealed to parents and caregivers to always take their childrens for immunization against the child killer diseases which is free.
Diptheria is a vaccine preventable communicable disease and is transmitted through cough, sneezing and coming into contact with infected person.
