Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi has praised the leadership and members of Mallam Sidi Progressive Association (MPA) for their unwavering commitment to the development of the area.
Ibrahim Njodi who made the commendation while addressing the 8th Annual meeting of the Association in Mallam Sidi said that the attention accorded to Education has greatly expidited the growth of the Community.
The SSG, impressed by the efforts of the Association in the educational sector, made personal donation of N1 million to its Educational Endowment Fund in support of children of the less privileged.
On developmental challenges facing the community to include citing of Tertiary institution and Health facilities, Erosion, and road network, the Secretary to the State Government directed the relevant Commissioners to liaise with the Director General of Joint Project and the Local Government Chairman to come up with actionable strategies for their actualization.
Ibrahim Njodi also announced that work will soon commence on the proposed Modern International Cattle Market close to the community urging youths in area to avail themselves the job opportunities the market will offer.
In a remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Yerima Abdullahi stressed the need for for aggressive investment in the Education as according to him no society thrives in ignorance and demonstrated that by a personal donation of N1million to the Association’s Education Fund.
Kwami Local Government Chairperson, Dr Ahmed Wali Doho in his comments, appreciated the SSG for his commitment to the development of the state and the Local Government in particular.
While commending the state government for execution of numerous projects in the area, Dr Ahmed Wali appealed to the state government to consider returning Mallam Sidi NYSC Orientation Camp which he said has been of great economic benefit to the people.
Other speakers included the National President of the Association, Ibrahim Manga, North East Coordinator of NBAIS, Abubakar Sa’ad, Regional General Manager JED and many detailed achievements and proposed work plan of the Association going forward.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of Awards of Excellence to deserving members in recognition of the outstanding contributions to the development of the community as contained in a statement by Joshua Danmallam, Information Officer, SSG’s office, Gombe.
