The immediate past Speaker of the 9th Bauchi State House of Assembly Abubakar Sulaiman has been re-elected for the second term as the Speaker of the 10th Assembly.
Abubakar Sulaiman who was nominated by a member representing Jama’are Constituency Mubarak Haruna and seconded by a member representing Shira constituency Auwal Hassan, elected unopposed.
Similarly, member representing Bauchi Central Constituency, Jamilu Dahiru, was elected as Deputy Speaker of the House.
Abubakar Sulaiman and Jamilu Dahiru have since accepted their nomination and election into the exalted positions as speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
The Clerk of the house, Umar Yusuf Gital administered the oath of allegiance and membership and declared them leaders of the Assembly.
In his speech, Abubakar Sulaiman expressed gratitude to Allah and his fellow lawmakers for the privilege given to him to serve Bauchi and to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
Abubakar Sulaiman pledged to champion the affairs of the legislature in collaboration with the executive arm and other arms of Government toward moving Bauchi state to a greater heights.
He used the opportunity and commended the state Governor Bala Mohammed for providing policies and programs for the development of the state and urged him to maintain the spirit.
Earlier, the clerk has read Governor Bala Muhammad’s letter of proclamation in which he cited relevant sections of the 1999 Constitution as amended on the inauguration of the state’s 10th Assembly.
