Bauchi LGA chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) celebrated the 2024 NAPPS Day in collaboration with a Bauchi based NGO, Alwadata Lifeline Initiatives.
The event which was held on Saturday at the Bluebird Elementary High School, coincided with the International Day of the Girl Child with the theme: Girls Vision of the Future.
The event featured various activities, including awareness campaigns for the girl child and training on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management for selected Private Schools’ Focal Point Teachers in Bauchi LGA.
During the event, the Chairman of NAPPS Bauchi LGA, Hajia Binta Faruq, reiterated NAPPS’s commitment to quality education, empowering girls through education, and menstrual hygiene management.
She emphasized that the collaboration with Alwadata Lifeline Initiatives provided vital training for teachers to ensure a supportive environment for the students.
Dr. Samira Jibri, the National President of NAPPS, called on the government to support and foster maximum cooperation with educators and stakeholders by creating an enabling environment for private school owners.
The Executive Director of Alwadata Lifeline Initiatives, Mrs. Winifred Robinson Yusuf, facilitated the training on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management for the Focal Point Teachers from 20 Private schools in Bauchi LGA.
She encouraged them to teach the girls to be aware of their environment and ensure that they protected themselves against any form of molestation from anyone not even in the name of playing.
Winifred Robinson stressed the importance of menstrual health and hygiene management which she said are part of the life of the girl child as planned by nature urging them to avoid behaviours that will not augur well for their existence.
The ED of Alwadata also took the focal persons and teachers through the processes of reproductive health telling them to warn the girls not to joke with their sexual life in order to destroy their fertility process through illicit sexual relationship.
The participants appreciated NAPPS for the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and build their capacity, which will translate into a more conducive atmosphere to facilitate teaching and learning.
