Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has tasked religious leaders and followers to always toy the path of peace in their quest to advance religious practice.
This was according to a press statement signed and made available Journalists by the Information Officer SSG’s Office Joshua Ɗanmalam.
The statement said the Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi at the 4th Annual Muslim Ummah Submit organised by Kaltungo Chapter of National Ummah Islamic Center at GSSS Kaltungo LAKANJE with the theme” Muslim Ummah and the Contemporary Challenges to Unity” said for the religion of Islam to attract non believers adherents must be approach issues in a more peaceful manner.
While appreciating the coveners of Summit for their foresight Governor assured continued support to all religions and commended them unite for sake of propagating Islam.
He further explained that unity among Muslim faithful is not negotiable if the religion is to continue showing the needed direction to the world.
Governor Yahaya highlighted that religious harmony and peaceful coexistence in the state were responsible for the giant strides his administration has recorded since taking over the mantle of leadership in the State.
The Governor also encouraged the Muslim Community to continually seek knowledge in both in religious and western education and ensure putting it to effective usage for good of Islam and humanity.
Guest Speakers at the Summit Professor Ibrahim Yahaya Yero of Federal University Kashere and Dr Abdullahi Abubakar Lamido of Bayeri University Kano harp on the need for among Muslim faithful across the globe.
They noted that Muslims and Islam are being daily degraded because of divisions among them and charge the Muslim Ummah to have a rethink on ways of reinventing the unity that existed during the time of Prophet Muhammad.
The Scholars also admonished the Muslim Faithful to intensify love for one another, emphatise with those in difficult and trying times by praying and offering support where needed.
They equally harped on the necessity for Muslims to seek knowledge, engage in gainful economic ventures and imbibe integrity in their conduit at all times.
The Secretary,Kaltungo local Government Mr Haruna Lapte while welcoming participants to the event commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for creating the enabling environment for adherents of various religions to freely conduct their activities.
He also commended the conveners of the summit for the initiative and called on other religious bodies to emulate to promote peace and unity among the entire people of Gombe State and beyond.
