Thousands of women in katagum local government Area have benefited from different skills acquisition training by Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) Canada aimed at improving business capacity among youths and women in the society
Addressing The beneficiaries in Azare katagum local government the Country Project Coordinator of the program Mrs. Grace Fossen Okelola congratulated the beneficiaries of the training and urged them to make good use of the skills acquired.
According to her MEDA Canada is an international economic development whose mission is to create business solutions to poverty, and encourage womens to grow small and medium size businesses.
Mrs Grace, Who commended the benefiting communities in katagum local government Area for their Wonderful performance during the training urged them to maintain the tempo, noting that the training is an opportunity for them to improve themselves and families.
Also speaking Malam Iliya shu’aibu who is the community and stakeholders liasing officer further said since the inception of the program, MEDA program has recorded tremendous achievements in training women to run businesses and work on value chain, rice, groundnut and soya beans and supporting them to strengthen their business capacity and increase their income across 7 learning centers in the state.
In his remarks, the chairman katagum Local Government Area malam Musa Azare represented by his deputy Hon. Abdulhamid Datti Madara while commending MEDA for the opportunity given to the beneficiaries, admonished them to use the knowledge to boost their businesses.
While commending, the royal Highness Emir of katagum Alh.Dr. Umar Farouq II who was represented by the Village head of Azare Alh. Abdulkadir Ali Shira thanked the organisers and assured the support of traditional rulers in ensuring that such program are sustained.
Alh. Umar farouq used the medium to drawn the attention of Other international doner agencies to joint hand with the government to reduce hardship faced by the citizens through numerous policies and programs that has direct impact.
