Two people have been killed in Bauchi from two separate violent incidents that occurred within few days intervals as confirmed by the State Police Command.
A statement by the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili contained that the cases were those of Culpable Homicides and Criminal Conspiracy.
According to him, “One of them happened at Gwallameji, the outskirts of the Bauchi metropolis while the second incident occurred at Bakin-Kura, an inner part of the metropolis.”
Regarding, the first incident, the PPRO stated that Police received a distress call from Gwallameji that a group of hunters led by Commander Saidu Musa, 49-year-old armed with machetes and Dane Guns were there for operation.
The team of hunters was in the area to apprehend an unidentified person following a complaint laid in their office by one Ibrahim Lado, a resident of Hajiya Amina Lodge Gwallameji.
“Unfortunately, the residents mistook the hunters for armed robbers and responded forcefully, overpowering and injuring them. Therefore, one of the hunters, Nasiru Adam, a 27-year-old resident of Tani-Yola, sustained severe injuries,” he added.
Ahmed Wakili stated that,”Despite being rushed to ATBUTH for medical attention, Nasiru Adam was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. Also, Three of their motorcycles were burnt.”
Similarly, on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, there was a reprisal attack by a rival group of hoodlums known as ‘Yan Tokara’.
This case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide led to the death of Rabiu Shehu, also known as Rambo, a 21-year-old resident of Muda Lawal, Bauchi.
He was attacked and stabbed in the stomach and neck by an unknown person suspected to be a member of the rival group in the Bakin Kura area.
Despite being taken to the Specialists Hospital, Bauchi for medical examination, he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
However, checks revealed that the cause of the problem between the two rival groups was ownership of a girl who was double dating the two rivals leading to an attack between them.
Further checks revealed that in the process, one of the group members had his left hand cut off a development that did not go down well with the other wounded group.
After about two weeks, the group went for retaliation during which the late Rabiu Shehu met his death.
The Bauchi State Police Command extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased lamenting that the actions of these recalcitrant hoodlums, who support criminal activities and disrupt the peace of law-abiding citizens, will not be tolerated.
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed tactical Commanders, Area Commanders , and DPOs to thoroughly search the state to apprehend these criminals.
A discreet investigation has been ordered to uncover the circumstances leading to the deaths of the two individuals.
The Command emphasizes that it will persist in its efforts to maintain order, and anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly.
Henceforth, there is a heavy deployment of officers throughout the night, and every corner of the state will be thoroughly searched to ensure the arrest of those responsible.
