Bauchi State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has requested Media organizations in the state to continue to publicise its activities for the development of Sports in the state.
Chairman of the Association, Bala Bawaji made the request during courtesy visits to some Media organizations operating in the state.
Bala Bawaji said that, the Association has lined up some sporting events on individual and team basis before the end of the year, hence the need to support the association to achieve the target.
He explained that the Association is planning to organize a Refresher Course for its members on how to encourage economic development through sports writing.
Bala Bawaji added that, the essence of the visits was to introduce the new Executives members of the Association, strengthen the existing relationship and seek areas of collaboration in sports awareness and development.
Also speaking during the visits, State Secretary of the Association, Elizabeth Kah, urged media heads to encourage their female staff to register with the Association in order to boost women participation in sporting activities.
In their separate responses, General Manager of FRCN, Globe FM, Aminu Abdullahi Gombi, represented by Umar Sani Getso, his counterpart of Eagle Radio, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa Bello and Managing Director, Albarka Radio, Umar Ladan Salihu, expressed appreciation for the visit and promised to support the activities of the association when the need arises.
