Bauchi State Government on Tuesday, distributed items worth millions of Naira as Christmas gifts to the Christian community in the State.
The disclosure was made by the Chairman of the Committee appointed by the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed to distribute the items to the beneficiaries, Special Adviser, Civil Service Matters to the Governor, Abdon Dallas Gin.
While briefing Journalists on the development, he explained that the Committee has distrbuted mapped out how to effectively distribute the items to ensure that it reached the target audience.
He stressed that the development reflects the government’s commitment to fostering inclusivity among diverse religious groups in the state.
Abdon Dalla Gin disclosed that among the items distributed in this year were 72 bulls, 139 rams, 1510 bags of 80kg of rice and 179 jerricans of vegetable oil.
He also said that upon purchasing the items, the standing committee immediately distributed them to the Christian community across the State with a focus on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
According to the Chairman, the items were handed to ECWA/Tekan, Catholic Secreteriate , PFN and CPFN, OAIC and CCN which are the five Main blocs of the CAN branch in Bauchi State.
The Chairman also noted that in its effort to put smile on the face of Christian faithfuls in the State, the State Government has commenced the payments of the month of December salaries to civil servants in the State to enable them make purchases and celebrate the yuletide period successfully.
The committee appreciated the State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed for what it described as a kind gesture which the State Government has been extending to Christian faithfuls in the State.
Abdon Dalla Gin extended the committee’s best wishes to the Christian Community for the Christmas celebration.
According to him, Chairpersons of the Twenty local government areas in the state are complementing the initiative by providing additional assistance to Christians in their respective domains.
He called on Christians to use the occasion of the Christmas and New Year celebrations to pray for the continued success of the Governor Bala Mohammed-led administration and the overall progress of Bauchi State.
