Bauchi State Police Command on Saturday, embarked on the third-party vehicle insurance policy enforcement as directed by the 22nd Indigenous Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad called upon all Personnel deployed for the exercise, to demonstrate professionalism and integrity throughout the critical process.
The Command stated that the initiative aligns with Section 68 of the Insurance Act and Sections 1, 2 – 3 of the Motor Vehicle (Third-Party Insurance) Act, which requires all vehicle owners to secure a minimum of Third-Party Insurance before operating their vehicles on Nigerian roads.
The Commissioner underscored the vital role that public trust and confidence play in the effectiveness of the Police Force.
He stressed that Officers must maintain high standards of conduct, as any breaches will carry profound implications.
The Command encouraged all vehicle owners in the state to ensure their insurance documents are current, contributing to a safer driving environment for everyone.
To facilitate the enforcement, a dedicated team comprising Divisional Traffic Officers (DTOs), representatives from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and staff from the Bauchi State Internal Revenue Service will be actively involved.
