Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen Abubakar Kyari is in Zimbabwe on an official visit aimed at strengthening Agricultural Trade, Technological Advancement and Adapting Measures to enhance food security in Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
The Minister was warmly received by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa in an impeccable commitment to strengthening agricultural trade, technological advancement and adapting measures to enhance food security in both nations.
Abubakar Kyari joined his counterpart, Dr. Anxious Jongwe Masuka who is the Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development for Zimbabwe.
The visit to Zimbabwe focused on assessing the capacity of Aftrade DMCC, the company supplying Nigeria with 2,000 Belarus tractors and related agricultural equipment, to establish 52 tractor service stations across Nigeria.
Zimbabwe is currently implementing a similar program through the same company, Aftrade.
This visit would provide an invaluable opportunity to examine the capacity of Aftrade to manage the proposed Nigerian network of service centers designed to help support agricultural mechanisation programme of the Federal Government as contained in a statement by Yazid Inuwa MK Bauchi, DG, North-East Coalition of Tinubu Shettima Support Groups.
