A total of Thirty School Teachers selected from the 20 LGAs of Bauchi State have commenced a 3-day capacity training for train the trainers in education with the aim of expanding and improving the scope of teaching in the state.
The training is being facilitated by the Girls Education Misson International in conjunction with the Bauchi State Ministry of Education and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) with sponsorship by the TY Danjuma Foundation.
While declaring the training opened on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Smart School, Bauchi, State Commissioner of Education, Dr Jamila Dahiru said that the 30 participants were carefully selected from the Secondary Schools across the 20 LGAs of the state.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ali Babayo, the Commissioner stated that the target is to train not less than 5000 teachers across the state explaining those selected for the train the trainer will later step it down at the schools level.
The Commissioner added that the aim is to ensure that effective and efficient teaching and learning environment was created in all schools in the state in line with the priority of the government.
Jamila Dahiru added that the Ministry will continue to partner relevant agencies in the education sector in order to improve the quality of service delivery in the sector.
She then commemded Girls Education Misson and TY Danjuma Foundation for the training assuring that the Ministry will ensure that the aims and objectives were met.
The Commissioner charged the participants to pay attention to the various presentations during the 3 days so that they will have what to give during the stepping down just as she urged them to count themselves lucky to have been selected from among many other qualified teachers.
In his remarks, Chairman of the SUBEB, Adamu Mohammed Duguri commemded the initiative which he said will go a long way in boosting the education sector of the state.
The SUBEB Chairman promised that the Board will ensure that the positive impacts of the training was felt in all schools in the state.
In her address, the Executive Director of Girls Education Misson International, Keturah Shammah explained that the training was organised under the Project Title: Quality Education for Lifelong Learning (QELL).
She appreciated the Education Commissioner for her interest in the project saying that the commitment has been tremendous as she gave the desired attention to ensuring that the training was done.
Keturah Shammah stressed that the working relationship with the relevant stakeholders has been tremendous saying that the training is aimed at providing a support for the effective atmosphere for teaching and learning.
According to her, considering the fact that Bauchi State has the highest number of out-of-school children, the project will work to see that the covenant of quality education with the child was fulfilled.
She then commended the State Government for priotizing education sector saying that it is a demonstration of readiness to have a future for the children.
Some of the participants expressed their readiness to learn new things which will assist them in effective and efficient service delivery assuring that they will do everything possible to step down the training at the schools level.
