A 30-year-old man, Aminu Mohammed from Magaji Quarters, Bauchi, has been apprehended by operatives of the Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate Divisional Police Headquarters (C) Division of the State Police Command for alleged impersonating Nigerian Army personnel for two years in violation of sections 110(1) and 251 of the criminal code.
The arrest was made on July 22, 2024, after a complaint was filed against him. Aminu Muhammad collected the sum of N210,000.00 from an unsuspecting individual under the false representation of assisting in securing a job with the Nigerian Army.
Furthermore, the suspect deceitfully directed his victim to meet his friend (who is currently at large) to facilitate his entry into the military training school in Zaria.
However, after spending eight days in Zaria, the victim could not meet the individual who was supposed to take him to the training school.
Preliminary investigations have shown that the culprit had never served or worked with the military before his arrest.
However, he had obtained a pair of camouflage trousers from his friend, who is serving military personnel as contained in a statement by SP Ahmed Wakili, Command PPRO.
The Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered the transfer of the case for a discreet investigation at the state criminal investigation department to uncover more facts that will aid in prosecution.
