Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Elder Statesman, Ahmed Excellent Abubakar (Dallatun Gombe).
The Governor described the late AE Abubakar as a seasoned technocrat, visionary reformer, and a patriotic Nigerian who served the nation with distinction.
Inuwa Yahaya noted that the passing of Ahmed Excellent Abubakar is a monumental loss not only to his immediate family but to Gombe State and Nigeria at large.
He praised the deceased for his commitment to public service and his contributions to national development.
The Governor extended his deepest condolences to Malam Gana family, Gombe Emirate as well as friends and associates of the deceased.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased and grant him Aljannat Firdaus.
Recall that Governor Inuwa Yahaya had sent a delegation, led by the Head of Civil Service, Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, to represent him at the funeral prayer held at the Emir’s palace in Gombe.
The late Dallatun Gombe had an illustrious career in the federal civil service, where he held key positions including Undersecretary and Secretary in various Ministries.
He served as Secretary (Director) in the Federal Ministries of Defence and Communications, and also at the Presidency, Dodan Barracks, during the administration of General Yakubu Gowon.
He was also one of the pioneers involved in the establishment of the defunct Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in April 1977.
LHis service continued at the state level, where he held the position of Commissioner for Finance in the old Bauchi State from 1980 to 1983 during the Second Republic as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
